Musa Kwankwaso, presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the 2023 election, has voiced dissatisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) printing of the party’s logo.
He claimed that the NNPP logo provided by the commission was sufficient to cancel the February 25 election, claiming that many of his supporters had been disenfranchised.
Kwankwaso, who stated this on Thursday during the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, vowed to go to court if INEC did not investigate the situation in future elections.
“I believe this is an appropriate time to state that all of our members were dissatisfied with how our logo was presented on ballot papers.” Unfortunately, we were forced to confront these challenges at the last minute. The majority of individuals, including my humble self, had difficulty identifying our logo. I think our party is currently planning how to present our logo in the upcoming election.
“My appeal to either INEC is that one of our logo’s problems is the quality of printing, and we are now holding elections in three or four states.”
“We don’t want to rush to court on some of these issues.” But, in a civilized society, what INEC presented as our logo is sufficient to cancel the national election under normal conditions. “We were denied our right to vote,” he explained.
While expressing satisfaction with the party’s overall success in the 2023 general elections, Kwankwaso noted that the NNPP gained nationwide popularity as soon as the polls opened.
