2023: Zamfara electorates advised to shun money politics to restore lost glory

A political analyst in Zamfara, Abubakar Abdulkarim, has advised residents, especially, youths to avoid money politics to ensure the creation of basic infrastructural amenities and general development of the State.

Abdulkarim lamented that money politics has seized the rights of the people to question the fraudulent activities of their leaders, delayed salaries, misappropriation of public funds, financial recklessness, accumulation of debts and many more.

Speaking with DRILOGIST in Gusau, the State capital, Abdulkarim said the people need to go back to the drawing board with a view to putting in place effective and comprehensive political arrangements that would remedy the deplorable conditions of the state.

He maintained that a lot of consultations need to be made considering the multifaceted problems rocking the entire state, saying that money politics must be shunned if the people want to pull themselves out of all these messes.

Abdulkarim warned that Zamfara politics should not be a business as usual following numerous challenges confronting the residents, pointing out that they must make proper use of their votes to avoid ‘had we knоwn’.

“They need to give their mandates to somebody with a political will that can protect them from the insecurity situation bedevilling the state, advance their economic rights, secure steady income, decent livelihoods.

“The youths and women now see themselves as the most neglected segments of the State, even though they are the determinants of any electoral victory anywhere in the world,” he added.

He explained that Zamfara State electorates have the right to decide their own destiny, stressing that they have to make extensive consultations with various groups and individuals before deciding who becomes the next landlord of the State’s Government House in 2023.

“It is only through the election of a czar of liberty that shares the same sentiments, aspirations with the commoners that poverty, insecurity and other problems can be reduced and we can then move forward”

“Zamfara State as it is now, needs a great political motivator that will give his stewardship through appropriate methodology and conduit for development.”

Abdulkarim recalled that Zamfara State was created on October 1st 1996 by the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, saying that since then, capital development has eluded the State, unlike other States created alongside it.

He said the dreams of the crusaders of Zamfara State still remain unrealised after many years of creation, pointing out that the founding fathers conceived the lofty idea to allow meaningful, sustainable and endurable development to take place, yet the State has remained rural after over 20 years of creation.

“If the founding fathers of Zamfara State who had died and buried should rise to see the position of the State they earnestly fought for, they would be filled with surprises,” he said.
