Five passengers of a commercial vehicle have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen along the Emohua-Kalabari axis of the East West Road.
The incident is reported to have taken place on Saturday at about 8pm.
The vehicle which picked up passengers at the Choba junction, was intercepted by the hoodlums and taken to an unknown destination.
However, there are reports that the driver of the vehicle was released while the other passengers were yet to regain their freedom.
The Rivers State Police Command is yet to comment on the incident.
But the civil society organization in the state has condemned the continued attacks on road users.
The chairman of the Rivers state civil society organization, Eneefa Georgewill, while calling for adequate security on the road, threatened to “mobilize” other affiliates of the organization to “occupy” the road if the four chairmen of the local government areas in the affected axis of the East West fail to do something about the security of the road.
