EPL: I’d never even heard of him – Ronaldo slams Man Utd for hiring sporting director as manager

Cristiano Ronaldo has slammed Manchester United for employing Ralf Rangnick, ‘a sporting director’ as manager after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking with Piers Morgan during the week, Ronaldo wonders why a club like Manchester United should hire an experienced manager like the German.

Manchester United have not won a single major trophy in the last five years and Ronaldo feels that nothing has changed, not even with the coming of Erik ten Hag.

“I don’t know what’s going on but since Sir Alex Ferguson left I saw no evolution at the club, the progress was zero,” the former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar, told Piers Morgan.

“For example, we have an interesting point how a club like Manchester United, after they sacked Ole, they bring sporting director Ralf Rangnick – which is something that nobody understands.

“This guy is not even a coach. A big club like Manchester United bring in a sporting director [as coach], it surprised not only me but all of the world.”

The 37-year-old, who has worked with so many big coaches, wonders how someone who is not even a manager can become a boss at Old Trafford.
