The Police in Sapele Division have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of a victim.
The suspects include Ogadinma Francis, 27, Goodnews Abaje, 30, Obunwa Kasim, 25, and Bright Osifo, 23.
The police also recovered the victim’s vehicle from the suspects.
The arrest of the suspects was made possible following a report received by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of Sapele Division from an anonymous source who notified the police of the discovery of the death of his landlord, Uguru Dominic, 29, and his male friend.
The victims, found dead in the bathroom, were suspected to have been murdered by unknown persons who made away with the victim’s white Toyota Corolla car with Reg no. ABJ 271.
The police, working on the tip-off, had arrested the suspect, Francis, from whom the vehicle was recovered.
In his confession, the suspect averred that he killed the deceased because of his refusal to pay for a job he did for him.
According to the statement signed by Delta State Police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe: “The suspect also stated that he conspired with his friends to commit the crime. Acting on his confession, the three accomplices namely, Goodnews Abaje, Obunwa Kasim, and Bright Osifo were arrested. They stated that the initial plan was to rob the victims. They tied them up till about 4:30 am and then forced him to transfer the sum of thirty-six thousand naira (N36,000) to one of the suspects’ account. They further stated that they decided to kill both of them because they felt the victims recognized them and will report them to the Police.”
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal investigation department for further Investigation, Edafe confirmed.
