Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a well-known creator of TikTok skits, has been ordered to be detained in a jail by a Shariah court located in Kano’s Filin Hockey neighborhood.The well-known comedian was charged on Thursday with defamation of character, profanity, public annoyance, and disturbance of public peace.Aisha Najamu and Idris Maiwushirya, two other Tik Tokers, submitted a complaint accusing Murja of disparaging their reputations, which led to the addition of the defamation allegation to the count.She entered a not guilty plea after being informed of all the accusations by the prosecuting attorney, Lamido Sorondinki.Following that, Murja’s attorney, Yasir Musa, moved an application for her release on bond; however, the prosecution attorney objected.The case was postponed until February 16 so that the judge could rule on the accused’s request for bail. Judge Abdullahi Halliru ordered that the defendant be kept in prison custody.Recall that Miss Murja was most recently taken into custody by the Kano police at the direction of a Shari’a court.
