FG seeks to promote tourism through new Visa Validity policy.

The federal government has mandated that, beginning on March 1, 2023, all provisions of a new visa reciprocity policy for citizens of the United States of America be fully implemented

The instruction was issued following authorization for the execution of the new bilateral consular policy agreements between the two countries, according to interior minister Rauf Aregbesola.

Aregbesola claims that the program aims to promote tourism as well as increase trade and cultural interchange between the two countries.

The new Nigeria Visa Policy was introduced in 2020 by President Muhammadu Buhari. The reciprocity of a five-year tourist visa validity period for American citizens under Section 30 of the Immigration and Nationality Act 2015 among other agreements, were disclosed by the minister on Friday, according to a statement from Sola Fasure, Aregbesola’s media assistant.

Fasure stated that the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, had been instructed by the Interior Minister to begin implementing the policy on March 1, 2023.

In accordance with the bilateral agreement, the United States of America would enact a similar policy for Nigerians who seek to visit the United States on a tourist visa as well as for our diplomats and officials who are in the nation. So, the United States will increase the five-year limit on the duration of a tourist visa for citizens of Nigeria.

He declared that there had been restrictions on crossing international borders in relation to the elections.
