The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Thursday that supplemental polls would be held in senatorial and federal constituencies where returns were not received following the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, stated this.
“The Commission is aware that Declarations and Returns were not made in several Senate Districts and Federal Constituencies,” he stated.
“The Commission is creating a list of impacted constituencies. Following the Governorship and State Assembly elections, a date for additional elections will be set.”
Okoye also mentioned that INEC held its regular weekly meeting on Thursday and discussed various issues, including the Presidential and National Assembly elections, as well as the upcoming elections in Enugu East Senatorial District, Esan Central/Esan West, and Igueben Federal Constituencies in Edo State.
He noted that the rescheduled polls in Edo and Enugu States, as well as the Governorship and State Assembly elections, will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023.
