The Presidential Campaign Committee of Messrs Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State stated it has enough data to indicate that its party won the state’s presidential election on February 25 comfortably.
During a joint news conference with the leadership of Civil Society Organizations on Friday, PCC Director-General Capt. Augustine Okon expressed confidence that the mandate granted to Peter Obi during the recently completed Presidential Elections will be regained through lawful methods.
Previously, Peter Obi declared during an international news conference in Abuja on Thursday that he was ready to go to court to reclaim his mandate.
The PCC, on the other hand, expressed reservations about INEC’s failure to upload results to the IReV portal, despite assurances from its chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, adding that resorting to manual collation and announcement of results not only raised suspicions but also suggested a “grand gang up” to suppress the will of the people.
“I want to inform you that the PCC Akwa Ibom State has gathered sufficient evidence to indicate that His Excellency, Peter Obi, won the presidential election in this state,” he said. We will coordinate with our legal staff to retrieve the stolen mandate.”
In separate statements, Coalition leaders Comrades Nathaniel Ifot and Bernard Titus chastised INEC for failing to deliver on its pledge.
Comrade Titus on his part, regretted that votes at his unit in Ini Local Government were allegedly upturned against the LP but urged the people to be steadfast and ensure that all LP candidates in March 11, governorship and House of Assembly polls are voted for.
