Teslim Folarin, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, has rejected plans to bring back the Seriki Fulani of Ibarapa.
Salihu AbdulKadir, the Fulani leader, was forced out of town in January 2021 by Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator.
Igboho, who was later detained in Benin Republic for secessionist activities, accused AbdulKadir of facilitating kidnappings in and around Ibarapa.
Folarin also denied rumours that he will close the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) campus in Iseyin on Tuesday.
The Senator, in a statement by his spokeswoman Yekeen Olaniyi, branded the charges “another propaganda carried too far”.
The APC flagbearer stated that LAUTECH Ogbomoso belongs to every zone in Oyo, urging the people to remain calm.
He stated that his agricultural agenda included the LAUTECH Faculty of Agriculture in Iseyin and the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH) in Igboora.
Folarin stated that a portrait of the deposed Seriki Fulani was shot at a peace conference with Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani leaders from Ibarapa.
“Our opponent’s poster with the tagline “Folarin to Bring Back Seriki Fulani to Ibarapa”…is fake news,” he said.
Folarin went on to say that a major political party was behind the rumors, and he warned them to stop their slanderous campaign.
