The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that it supports the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to postpone the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.
The national exercise was changed from Saturday 11th March to Saturday 18th March 2023 on Wednesday night.
The change came as a result of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s decision to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) utilized in the presidential election.
The APC emphasized INEC’s pledge that data from the presidential and national assembly elections would be adequately backed up on its cloud infrastructure.
National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka asked the commission to “preserve and defend the integrity of the acquired data from BVAS” in a statement issued on Thursday.
The governing party recommended INEC to take advantage of the postponement to remedy any gaps or problems detected during the previous election.
The APC, on the other hand, argues that President-elect Bola Tinubu was “the overwhelming choice of Nigerians in the presidential election, which was free and fair” under the Electoral Act.
Morka asked supporters and other Nigerians to “double down on their support for our great party and its candidates” the next Saturday.
