The Peoples Democratic Party PDP’s Jigawa State gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Mustapha Lamido, has stated that the party has accepted INEC’s decision to postpone the upcoming elections.
Lamido made the announcement on his official Facebook page on Thursday.
“We welcomed the decision of INEC to postpone the Governorship and State Assembly Elections in good faith,” he said.
As a result, he asked the commission to use the time available to resolve some of the issues that arose during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
“Yet, we reiterate our call on the commission to rectify the numerous anomalies that bring the Presidential and National Assembly Elections into doubt and may jeopardize the integrity of the upcoming elections.”
“As a result, I urge our supporters to stay calm and patient as we continue to persuade the people of Jigawa State of our good intentions.”
“I urge the people to stay convinced that their ballots will be counted and, as a result, to turn out in large numbers at voting stations on March 18, 2023.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has postponed the 11th March poll by one week to allow for the reconfiguration of the BVAs used for the presidential and National Assembly elections on the 25th of February 2023, according to DRILLOGIST.
