Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has accused former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi and All Progressives Party, APC, gubernatorial candidate Tonye Cole of plotting against the emergence of President-Elect Bola Tinubu.
Wike said that Amaechi and Cole were opposed to the APC’s power shift to the south of Nigeria.
“Amaechi and his protégé, Tonye Cole, openly fought the call for power shift to the South and worked against their party’s presidential candidate in Rivers State,” Wike stated during a state broadcast.
“After the President-elect was declared the victory, Cole hurried to congratulate him on his Instagram profile but quickly erased the message after being chastised.”
Tinubu beat Amaechi, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Senate President Ahmad Lawan to become the APC presidential candidate in June 2022.
