The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has stated that an interim government that would stop Bola Tinubu’s inauguration would not work under President Muhammadu Buhari.
Lalong declared this after meeting with Buhari at Aso Rock on Thursday.
His remarks came just 24 hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenged the Department of State Services (DSS) to apprehend plotters of a potential interim national government
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, named Tinubu the winner of the February 25 presidential election, beating out Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.
However, following INEC’s announcement, Atiku and Obi both rejected the findings, claiming that the election had been rigged.
With the impending legal battles, there has been talk of forming an interim administration.
“Not under President Buhari’s administration, who has repeatedly stated, ‘I believe in democracy,'” Lalong said. ‘I think I want to go and rest after my tenure.’
“Those who are still talking about it (interim government) are just dreaming,” I say. Buhari, by the grace of God, will deliver a successor, and that successor is already in place. Tinubu, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed.
