Former Senate President and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain Pius Anyim was returned from suspension by the party’s leadership on Thursday.
Ayodele Fayose, the two-term governor of Ekiti State, was also recalled from suspension by the PDP’s interim chairman.
Both were suspended from the party by the embattled Dr Iyorcha Ayu, who stood down as PDP National Chairman on Tuesday after a string of scandals dogged his tenure.
Their recall came after an evaluation by the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee on Thursday.
Prof. Dennis Ityavyar, Dr. Aslam Aliyu, and former Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, were among those whose suspensions were lifted on Thursday, according to a statement made accessible to journalists in Abuja by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
According to the statement, their suspensions were thoroughly reviewed, and a solution in the best interests of the party was reached.
It states, in part, that “this decision is without prejudice to the NWC’s powers to take necessary disciplinary action against any member of the Party at any time in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution.” (as amended in 2017).
“The NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and throngs of our Party members across the country to follow the provisions.”
“The NWC charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, and throngs of our Party members across the country to be guided by the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017), as well as the new spirit and necessity of reconciliation, unity, and harmony in our Party at this critical juncture.”
