Following receipt of a permit from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to build a civil aviation airport in Makurdi, the state capital, the Benue State administration has made plans for a new public airport .
Mike Inalegwu, the state’s commissioner for information, tourism, and culture, revealed this information to reporters after the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Makurdi.

He stated that the foundation-laying ceremony for the airport would take place the following week near Kura Village on Naka Road, about 12 kilometers from Makurdi City.
The good news is that this government pushed for the authorization of this airport and we got it, Inalegwu said.
“The next administration can equally continue with the project,” he added.
The commissioner further said that Air Peace had been given permission by the NCAA to begin conducting commercial flights from Makurdi Airport (the military airport) Benue State to other parts of the country.
The flights from Makurdi Airport are expected to begin running on April 17, 2023, at 8am, according to Inalegwu.
