Moses Armstrong, a Nollywood actor, has refuted the rape charges made against him.

The troubled actor announced this via his Facebook page on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.

“Nothing Pass God. If you believe, you will receive. Nothing Pass God. I did not rape nobody. I don’t rape…I have never raped…And I will never rape. I’m back stronger and better…I’m happy I went to prison, God went with me,” he wrote.

“To get involved with a child as young as 16yrs is not something I and the association I do not represent, would not stand for. This is a very sad development involving a member of ours, but I wouldn’t want to comment any further on this case,” he said.

In June, men from the Akwa Ibom State Police Command detained Armstrong for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old girl.

The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, called the matter “very serious” in response to the news of his detention.

Rollas disclosed that the matter is being handled by Martha Udom Emmanuel, the first lady of Akwa Ibom State, via her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.

Additionally, he separated the Guild from the heinous deed. Then, he was charged with the rape of a minor and the distribution of abortion pills. According to Premium Times, Armstrong was read the four accusations on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, in a State High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

His attorney, Emmanuel Pantaleon, brought the court’s attention to the bail application he submitted on his client’s behalf on July 25 and asked for permission to proceed with hearing it.

In opposition to the bail application, I.U. Robert, an assistant state attorney, cited pertinent judicial authorities and urged the court to reject the application, which he described as an “abuse of court process.”

After hearing arguments from both attorneys, the judge granted bail in the amount of N5 million to Mr. Armstrong based on the defense attorney’s motion.
