Abuja; Fulani Group and Vigilante Clash, One Death Recorded

The FCT Police Command responded to a confrontation between a group of Fulani boys and a vigilante group in Yaba, Abaji Area Council. The clash, which resulted in the death of one vigilante member and injuries to about six others, occurred on Saturday.

In a statement on Sunday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, contested the reported number of injuries, stating that only three persons were injured during the clash. Adeh mentioned that upon receiving the report, the DPO Yaba mobilized to the scene and rescued three vigilante members with various degrees of machete-cut injuries, who were then rushed to Abaji General Hospital.

Preliminary investigation findings suggested that the clash originated from the unlawful impoundment of motorcycles belonging to the Fulanis. Adeh assured that the situation was brought under control, and normalcy was restored. The incident remains under investigation by the Yaba Division.
