In a disturbing incident in Adamawa State, a man named Sadiq was said to have killed his mother, claiming to believe that his mother was a witch, alleging, “She was a witch. She appeared to me as a witch. People have been accusing her of witchcraft for about two years. It is true because something kept frightening me, especially at night.”
Sadiq, reportedly addicted to a dangerous chemical concoction known locally as “Suck and Die,” explained that his mother, appearing to him in a dream as a witch, caused him intense fears and sleepless nights.
On the fateful day, Sadiq entered their family house at midnight, finding only his sleeping sister. Speculating that his mother might have gone out for witchcraft, he couldn’t locate her in his father’s room but encountered her leaving the house, leading him to shoot her twice.
The Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed Sadiq’s arrest and added that the suspect murdered his mother based on an allegation of witchcraft. The state Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, directed the matter to be transferred to CID for a discreet investigation.
