Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the village head of Rakyabu, Magaji Sa’idu, and the Chief Imam of the village, Malam Abdullahi, in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The abduction took place on Monday night when the bandits stormed the village.
The community leaders were taken from their homes, and the bandits demanded a ransom of N5 million. However, the community could only raise N500,000 through donations. Despite paying the initial amount, the bandits refused to release the victims, insisting on the remaining balance of N4.5 million.
Expressing concern, a local resident called on relevant authorities to intervene urgently for the rescue of the kidnapped village head and Chief Imam. As of the time of reporting, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, could not be reached for comment.
