In Obosi community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, gunmen attacked a police facility used by anti-cult agents at around 11 p.m. on Thursday.It was reported that the men used petrol bombs to burn down a structure while in formation, killing one police officer.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the occurrence and stated that a significant number of operatives were deployed to the area as soon as the command learned about the attack.DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, a spokesman for the state police command, stated: “Our personnel were deployed there promptly, and they were able to fight off the gunmen. They also discovered some unusable improvised explosive devices (IEDs).”Our soldiers resisted the attackers and held their post.The men arrived in three vehicles and in great numbers. Three Toyotas: a Highlander, a Sienna, and a Corolla.”Due to the deployment, the attackers were unable to wreak as much damage as they had anticipated. They had to get away.
Meanwhile, one police officer perished in the assault. The attackers fired a shot that struck him. Additionally, one of the structures in the formation caught fire as a result of the assailants’ use of a petrol bomb.”There is a significant police operation underway in the region as I speak, and we are asking the public to trust us with any information.
