The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Thursday threw out the appeal filed against Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.

The court, presided by Justice Bature Gafai, in its judgement held that the argument of John Usman (SAN) on behalf of Akpoti-Uduaghan that the deponents of the affidavits in support of the originating summons who were not delegates cannot challenge the delegate election.

Relying on the certified true copies of the delegate election results and the primary election tendered by Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Court upheld her election and dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.

Recall that Justice Peter Mallong of a Federal High Court in Abuja had on Friday September 2, thrashed the suit, which challenged the nomination of Akpoti-Uduaghan, as the Kogi Central Senatorial candidate for the PDP.
