Two female students from the Federal University, Gusau have been kidnapped by Armed Bandits in the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State’s Sabon Gida village.u
The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed that the students were kidnapped early on Sunday.
In a statement, SP Mohammed Shehu, the PPRO, described how the as-yet-unidentified hoodlums broke into the students’ rented apartment complex at around 1am on Sunday.
According to the statement, CP Kolo Yusuf, the state’s commissioner of police, has told the citizens, particularly the families of the victims and the administration of the university, that attempts are being made to rescue the students.
The CP further stated that search and rescue operations have been stepped up by police tactical operators in an effort to save the two girls.
According to the statement, “Information received by the Command indicated, On 2nd April 2023 at about 0100am, Armed bandits attacked sabon gida village in Bungudu LGA and managed to break into a rented female hostel of the university where they locked up the two (2) civilian guards and deprived them of their handsets before abducting two (2) female students from the university’s microbiology department.
“The police tactical squad arrived on the spot as soon as they received the call, according to the PPRO, because the thugs had already departed with the victims to an unidentified location.In order for the police to be successful in their rescue efforts throughout the state, the commissioner of police call for public support.
