According to former Newcastle United player Alan Shearer, Ben White’s block of Bernd Leno may have prevented Arsenal from scoring the opening goal against Fulham. After defeating Fulham 3-0 on Sunday at Craven Cottage, Arsenal reclaimed a five-point lead in the Premier League standings.
Mikel Arteta’s team Arsenal defeated Fulham thanks to three goals from Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard and two assists from Leandro Trossard.
A further plus was Gabriel Jesus’ injury-affected comeback as a late replacement.Shearer believed that White may have engaged in a little bit of dirty play in the opening goal, which was nodded in by defender Gabriel after Trossard delivered a flawless cross.

Shearer told Premier League Productions: “Ben White is genuinely blocking the goalie, so it wouldn’t have shocked me [if it had been ruled out].”It is too late for the keeper to decide whether to come or not by the time he actually unblocks him.
“The ball is virtually in the six-yard box; it is already in the air. He might not have came for it or he might have, but the obstruction there prevented him from having that choice.”
“It’s a good pass in and a fantastic header, but Ben White is stopping him right up until the last second, so I wouldn’t have been surprised if the goal was ruled out”
“Despite that, nothing would have changed today because Arsenal dominated them by a wide margin.”
