Businessman Seeks Court Assistance to Reclaim N2.6 Million Rent Over Unfulfilled Property Sale

Muhammad Inuwa, a businessman, has lodged a petition with an upper Shari’a Court in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, seeking assistance to recover N2.6 million in rent from Fatima Muhammad. In 2018, Inuwa sold a house to the defendant for N28 million, with a deposit of N1.8 million. They agreed on a balance of N26.2 million to be paid in installments of N750,000 yearly until completion.

However, since 2018, the defendant has not paid the rent and later expressed disinterest in buying the house. Inuwa has urged the court to order the return of his house and three years and six months’ rent. The defendant, represented by Zaid Umar, refuted the allegation. The judge, Malam Iliyasus Umar, adjourned the case until January 11 to allow the complainant to present witnesses.
