Graham Potter, the head coach of Chelsea, has commented on reports that midfielder Mason Mount could join Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Mason is most likely to leave Chelsea this summer after contract extension negotiations between his representatives and Chelsea FC came to a standstill.
The likelihood of Liverpool acquiring the England international at the end of the current campaign is increasing.
Mason Mount signed up for the Chelsea Under-9 age division and has been practicing there since he was six years old. He has always been an offensive midfielder and is particularly skilled at playing in any of the central midfield positions.
Mount’s current Chelsea contract has less than 18 months left, and he has stated that his preference is to remain at the west London club.
Chelsea, though, are treading a fine line in terms of Financial Fair Play after spending more than £600 million since Todd Boehly took ownership last summer.
In response to a question regarding rumors linking his Mount to Liverpool during the pre-game news conference on Friday, Potter stated that the 24-year-old is Suffering ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League match against Leeds United on Saturday.Mason has been a pleasure to work with, said Potter.
“He has excelled and he is going through hardships because we all desire to improve. The contract is between him and the club. As I’m the head coach, I’m mostly concerned with making the players better. It is my main concern.”
