In the month of November, the Kaduna State chapter of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully seized 478 kilograms of diverse illicit substances, marking a significant accomplishment in their ongoing efforts against drug-related offenses.
As revealed by Shuaibu Yusuf-Omale, the command’s spokesperson, a variety of banned substances, including cocaine, heroin, cannabis, tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic drugs, were among the confiscated items during the operation.
Yusuf-Omale disclosed on Tuesday that a total of 90 individuals were apprehended during the specified period. The arrested individuals comprised a mix of drug traffickers, sellers, and consumers, emphasizing the comprehensive approach taken by the NDLEA to curb illicit drug activities in the region.
Addressing the proactive measures taken by the command, the spokesperson highlighted, “In its commitment to combating the drug scourge in Kaduna State through drug demand reduction activities, the command conducted extensive awareness programs across the state. The primary goal was to educate the public about the detrimental effects associated with drug use and illicit trafficking.”
This significant intervention by the NDLEA reflects a concerted effort to not only confiscate illicit substances but also to create awareness and educate the public, underlining the multifaceted approach adopted by the authorities in addressing the complex issue of drug abuse in Kaduna State.
