Delta State Police Command Apprehend 8 in Kidnapping Bust

In a recent operation, the Delta State Police Command successfully nabbed eight individuals involved in a kidnapping incident, managing to recover a seized vehicle in the process.

The arrest, carried out between Saturday and Sunday, took place at the Amukpe axis in Sapele by the CP – DECOY Squad, led by ASP Julius Robinson, with support from the Divisional Police Officer.

The suspects, who operated with a tricycle, had kidnapped a woman on Nov. 19 as she drove along Shell Road, Sapele. The criminals later extorted N2 million in ransom from her.

The victim’s ordeal began when her Mercedes Benz ran out of fuel, providing an opportunity for the perpetrators to strike. After transferring her to their operational tricycle, she was released on Nov. 22 upon payment of the ransom.

Acting swiftly upon receiving information about the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wale Abass, directed the CP – DECOY Squad to utilize technically generated intelligence to apprehend the criminals.

On Nov. 25, the squad, working in tandem with the DPO Sapele, executed a sting operation, resulting in the arrest of the gang leader. During interrogation, the suspect not only confessed to the crime but also revealed plans for an upcoming meeting with other gang members to strategize for another kidnapping operation.
