Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer has hailed Arsenal defender, William Saliba following his impressive display in their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace.
Shearer described Saliba’s performance against Crystal Palace as great, adding that the 21-year-old is exactly what Arsenal needed.
Saliba was named ‘Man of the Match’ as Mikel Arteta’s side kept a clean sheet in their remarkable victory away at Crystal Palace a few days ago.
The French star has been waiting since 2019 to make his debut for Arsenal, having spent the previous three seasons on loan at Saint-Etienne, Nice and Marseille.
Speaking to the Premier League, Shearer singled out Saliba for praise.
He said, “A great debut performance and a dominating presence. Exactly what Arsenal needed at the back.”
