Chelsea legend, Pat Nevin has singled out the club’s new summer signing, Kalidou Koulibaly, after his performance in his Premier League debut in the Blues’ 1-0 victory over Everton evening on Saturday.
Nevin said the Senegalese international was excellent for Chelsea against Everton, describing him as ‘Antonio Rudiger mark II’.
Koulibaly was impressive as Chelsea defeated Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park, thanks to Jorginho’s penalty.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (via The Chelsea Chronicle), Nevin compared Koulibaly with Rudiger, who joined Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.
Nevin said, “Chelsea fans were worried about losing Antonio Rudiger. They have got Rudiger mark II, haven’t they? Different players, but Kalidou Koulibaly’s tackling has been excellent.”
Koulibaly, who recently signed a four-year contract with Chelsea, turned heads with his performance on Saturday against Everton.
The 31-year-old won seven duels, three clearances, three aerial duels, two tackles and an interception against Frank Lampard’s men.
