Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has explained why he picked Cristiano Ronaldo to start against Brentford in Saturday’s late kick-off.

Ronaldo was left on the bench for the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford in their Premier League opener.

However, Ten Hag has included the 37-year-old in his starting XI, as he looks for his first three points.

“”You saw it, second half last week when he came on, he made a difference in the game,” Ten Hag said ahead of the match.

Scott McTominay is the player that has made way for Ronaldo in the team, with Christian Eriksen set to face the team he played for last season.

Man Utd XI: De Gea; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Fred, Eriksen, Fernandes; Sancho, Ronaldo, Rashford
