EPL: We weren’t good enough – Chelsea midfielder reveals who to blame for Blues defeat

Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, has apportioned the blame for their 4-1 defeat to Brighton to himself and his teammate, saying they were not good enough as a group and individuals.

Brighton hammered Chelsea 4-1 on Saturday to end the Blues 9-game unbeaten run and hand Potter his first defeat since taking over at Stamford Bridge

The England international said that Brighton wanted to win more than Graham Potter’s men.

Leandro Trossard gave the home side an early lead and Chelsea scored two own goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek before half-time

Kai Havertz pulled a goal back for Chelsea shortly after half-time but Pascal Gross capped a miserable afternoon for Potter when he scored Brighton’s fourth late on.

“It’s a tough one to take,” Chelsea midfielder Gallagher told reporters

“At the end of the day, we were not good enough individually or as a team.

“It seemed like they wanted it a bit more than us. We have to look at ourselves. We’re to blame and we are gutted, very disappointed in ourselves as a team as we know we’re so much more professional than that.

“Credit to Brighton, they were very good. They’re a top team, their fans were up for it.”
