Chelsea chairman, Todd Boehly has suggested that the club should appoint Laurence Stwart as the Blues’ new technical director because he is a world-class football leader who understands talent management and scouting.
Chelsea had on Wednesday confirmed that Stewart would be joining the west London club as technical director to focus on football globally.
Stewart will join the Premier League giants when he completes his commitments to AS Monaco, where he is currently a technical director.
He joined the French Ligue 1 club back in June 2020.
During Stewart’s time at Monaco, the team recorded consecutive third-place finishes in Ligue 1 and was a finalist in the 2021 French Cup.
Reacting to Stewart’s appointment, Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali said via the club’s official website: “Laurence is an important appointment as we plan to build a deep sporting team that will collaborate closely.
“Laurence is a world-class football leader who understands talent management, data and scouting, player development and performance.”
