Ese Brume reclaims Commonwealth Games Gold medal in long jump

Ese Brume has won Gold in the women’s long jump event of the Commonwealth Games after leaping a distance of 7.00m on the last day of the competition holding in Birmingham, England

The silver medallist from the World Championships did it in style breaking the 6.97 record set by Australia’s Bronwyn Thompson in Melbourne in 2006.

Brume had won Gold at the 2014 edition but was absent when the Games came around in 2018. As a result she lost her title to Canada’s Christabel Nettey.

The win increases Nigeria’s gold medal haul to 12 – making it the country’s best Commonwealth Games outing, yet.

Australia’s Brooke Buschkuehl and Deborah Acquah from Ghana finished in second and third positions with leaps of 6.95m and 6.94m respectively.
