Fake Policemen Reportedly Take Over Polling Units In Enugu Community

There are concerns in the Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State over the reported invasion of polling units in the area by fake policemen.

Meanwhile, thugs suspected to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party have been attacking supporters of the Labour Party in Obiagu Primary School and WTC Primary School in Enugu North LGA of the state.

Speaking with journalists on Saturday morning, the Anglican Bishop of Eha-Amufu Diocese, Rt Rev Daniel Olinya, condemned the development, describing it as unacceptable.

He accused the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force of being complicit in the attacks and political thuggery, saying that Isi-Uzo was under siege by fake security agents.

He disclosed that in the polling unit where he is supposed to vote, the situation was not different.

“When I got to my polling unit at Umuokpara, members of a particular political party were intimidating voters whom they felt were not in support of their party. When I spoke, they shouted me down.

“I asked about the presence of policemen and a lady wearing bathroom slippers showed up. When I inquired about her ID card, she showed me a cap

“This is the situation in all the polling units in Eha-Amufu; the police have refused to protect the ballot.

“We are calling on the Commissioner of Police to do something about this ugly situation,” Bishop Olinya said.
