Fiery Crash on Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway Leaves Nine Injured

In a recent vehicular mishap on the Ogbomoso-Oyo Expressway, nine passengers found themselves with varying degrees of burns, turning a routine journey into a night of chaos.

Confirmed by Joshua Adekanye, the FRSC Sector Commander in Oyo State, the incident involved a trailer and a truck at Sekona area along the expressway. Out of the total 13 individuals caught up in the mishap on that Saturday, nine suffered burns, while four miraculously emerged unharmed.

This unexpected incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m., with the truck vehicle erupting into flames as the trailer collided with it. Adekanye shared that due to the nighttime occurrence, pinpointing the exact cause of the fiery truck remains uncertain.

However, he speculated that over speeding and wrongful overtaking might have triggered the collision between the trailer and the ill-fated truck. The burnt victims are now en route to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for necessary medical attention.

Highlighting the collaborative rescue efforts, Adekanye acknowledged the contributions of RS11.31 Ogbomoso and RS11.312 Oolo Commands, alongside the Fire Service and Odo-Oba Police Division.

Taking the opportunity to advocate for safer driving practices, Adekanye urged motorists to steer clear of night travel, wrongful overtaking, and reckless driving, emphasizing the crucial role these precautions play in ensuring road safety. Stay safe out there on the roads!
