Four alleged child traffickers have been detained by the Rivers State Police Command in the state.Three female and one male suspects are involved.
According to a statement released by the State Command’s public relations officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the arrest was conducted in response to a complaint made by Precious Friday of the Ubima Community in the state’s Ikwerre Local Government Area.
Iringe-Koko claimed that Friday reported her child missing, which caused officers from the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit of the Command to search the area and resulted in Mercy Enyindah’s arrest.
She mentioned that Enyindah and her comrade Amaka Ewuzie confessed to having taken the infant as well as two other children.
As a result, another suspect, Chialuka Iheanacho, and her spouse, Chukwuma Iheanacho, who are believed to be members of the kidnapping ring, were apprehended in Delta State.
Iringe-Koko stated that while other gang members were still being sought after, some of the children who had been saved had found their families again, and that there were still efforts being made to save Jasper Friday, a two-year-old who had purportedly been sold at Asaba.
