In preparation for Saturday’s Premier League match against Brighton, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has chosen Edouard Mendy above Kepa Arrizabalaga as his current first choice goalkeeper.
Kepa has received harsh criticism for his recent outings in which he has been found to commit some extremely “bad errors,” and this was evident in the Blues’ 2-0 Champions League loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
During Lampard’s first stint in charge at Stamford Bridge, the relationship between the Spain international and the interim manager was tense.

The Englishman had previously preferred Arrizabalaga to Mendy, a Senegal international, and even Willy Caballero.
Lampard claimed there is now no justification to replace the Spaniard as the Blues’ starting goalkeeper.
“I cannot see any reason to do anything different at the moment,” Lampard told his pre match press conference while discussing Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation.
