Certain team members claimed that they had “the worst pre-season” under Thomas Tuchel last summer, according to Chelsea manager Graham Potter.
A winless run of 10 games for the Blues has put Potter under fire at Stamford Bridge. In the Premier League, Chelsea is now 11 points down of fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur.
Moreover, they are down 1-0 after the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match against Borussia Dortmund, Yet Potter thinks there were problems before he took over for Tuchel in September.
“it’s incredibly difficult; I believe I said it was the most difficult position in football a few weeks ago. Again, if you just take the season, a sub-optimal pre-season, speaking to a couple of the experienced guys [who] thought it was the worst pre-season they’ve had for different reasons, that’s not to blame anybody, for different reasons that happened,” Potter told reporters on Friday.
