Gunmen Attack, Kill Ogun Finance Director After Withdrawing Money from Bank

In a tragic incident on Wednesday, gunmen wearing hoods took the life of Taiwo Oyekanmi, the Director of Finance for the Ogun State governor’s office. The accountant met his untimely end on the well-known Kuto Bridge in Abeokuta, merely three kilometers away from a bank where he had withdrawn a significant amount of money intended for government use.

The assailants not only committed murder but also made away with the undisclosed sum of money. Shockingly, Oyekanmi, who had recently celebrated his birthday, fell victim to this gruesome attack, according to insiders from the government office.

Our sources revealed that Oyekanmi was swiftly rushed to the state hospital in the Ijaye area of Abeokuta, where he sadly took his last breath. The heartbreaking news of his demise had already reached his family, and Tokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the State government (SSG), was on-site, offering his condolences.

The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, acknowledged the incident but strangely insisted that no one lost their life at the scene. However, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu, when contacted, confirmed both the incident and Oyekanmi’s unfortunate death.

Alamutu explained, “This afternoon, the Director of Finance, accompanied by the driver and another individual, went to a bank for some withdrawals.” The community mourns the loss of a dedicated public servant in this distressing turn of events.
