The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate in the recently ended presidential election revealed that his Labour Party opponent, Peter Obi, stole their votes in the South-east and South-South.
Atiku, speaking to the press in Abuja on Thursday, said Obi’s votes from the two geopolitical areas could not make him president of the country.
The former vice president urged Obi to meet with the PDP to discuss ways to recapture victory from the governing All Progressives Congress, APC.
“At the time Peter chose to leave the PDP and join the Labour Party, we had not even begun our primary process, so the question of whether he would obtain the ticket or not did not arise,” he explained.
“Yeah, agreed and it is a truth that he grabbed our votes from the south-east, south-south but that of course will not make him a president.
“You all know that to be a president in this nation you need votes from everyone therefore as far as I’m concerned, Peter is welcome to engage with PDP. We are willing to converse with him”.
