After a lawmaker, Hon. Samuel Adejare, informed the House that the workers may not likely benefit from the federal government pay package, Speaker of the House Femi Gbajabiamila announced the date.
You may recall that resident doctors gave the federal government two weeks to approve the exclusion or face a walkout that would take place soon.
However, Gbajabiamila requested that Adejare arrange a meeting with the unhappy medical personnel for this Friday in his office so that he can speak with the unhappy medical personnel.
Additionally, during the plenary, the House approved a motion by Hon. Mohammed Alkali calling for an investigation into how the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Ministry of the Interior create and distribute the Nigerian international passport.
Alkali, who was presenting the motion, stated that the probe was required in order to account for the funds paid to the Nigerian Immigration Service for the creation of the smart passports.
He said that the process of fairness, equity, and openness was violated when the contract for printing the passports was given to a single hand-picked company.
