Earlier today, news made the rounds online that the highly rated “Anikulapo” movie, by ace producer, Kunle Afolayan, was rejected by the Nigerian Oscars committee.

Despite the positive reviews Anikulapo has gotten in countries all over the world since its premiere, the Academy Awards do not think it merits being nominated.

Expressing his disappointment on his Instagram page moments ago, Kunle Afolayan wrote “I am so pleased and delighted that the whole world has decided to tag ANIKULAPO film a masterpiece even though the Nigeria Oscar selection committee think its not worth submitting for the Oscars. Will keep doing my own thing”

Has gathered more details on how the movies was rejected for the prestigious award.

It has been gathered that eight (8) members out of the 15 member committee of the Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) of the 2023 Oscar awards rejected all three movies sent in for consideration, including Anikulapo.

“Although the committee received three epic films following its call for submissions in August, it turned out that none of them will advance to the next stage owing to the voting patterns of members.”In a session that lasted two hours on September 3, 2023, the NOSC recorded a voting chart of ‘8:5:1:1’ from its 15 members- with ‘no film is eligible’ taking the lead.”

As a result of “No film is eligible” taking the lead, all the movies were turned down.
