Reality TV star, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has opened up on the reason why she had abortions in the past. In an interview with Naomi Chima on Punch, Phyna revealed that she had two abortions from past relationships. This comes some days after Phyna replied to a troll who called her an “abortionist.”
When she was asked why she was vocal with the abortions she had, knowing that people would judge her, she replied saying that she is like an open book, and this is how they are in their family; they are very open people
“I am not ashamed of anything about myself. If I ever make a mistake, I own up to my mistake,” she said.
Speaking on the reason why she had an abortion twice. She narrated that she was in a ‘12-year relationship’. She had her first abortion at the age of 19. She was so young and couldn’t go home to tell her parents about it. This was why she decided to abort the first one.
She added that the second pregnancy happened when she was a 24-year-old.
At that time, she had already finished serving. She initially planned on keeping the pregnancy this time, but she realized that the relationship was getting toxic. She said her boyfriend used to beat and abuse her then, so she felt what’s best for her is to remove the pregnancy, which she did.
“I was ready to keep it, but the relationship was getting toxic. He abused me and always beat me up. I said to myself that I couldn’t do this anymore, so I took it out, and that was how I ended the relationship”
When she was asked if she would still consider abortion in her current state, she said that there is no reason for her to do that now because she is now rich. She added that if her parents were actually rich back then, she might have kept her first pregnancy, but that wasn’t the case because they were poor and only fed once a day.
