Imo; Police Dismantle Criminal Hideout, Parades Fifteen Suspects

The Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, revealed that the police successfully dismantled a criminal hideout located in Obiangwu and Logara Forest within the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area of the state. This announcement came during the parade of fifteen individuals suspected to be affiliated with IPOB/ESN terrorists at the headquarters in Owerri on Thursday.

CP Aboki Danjuma disclosed that the arrest of the suspects followed a persistent investigation based on confessions obtained from a notorious IPOB/ESN suspect recently apprehended by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad. Operatives, led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa, strategically approached the hideouts of the suspected terrorists in Obiangwu and Logara Forest, employing surprise tactics that compelled the hoodlums to surrender.

Upon searching the suspects and their hideout, law enforcement recovered a variety of items, including an AK-47 rifle loaded with 21 rounds of live ammunition, charms, one cut-to-size double barrel shotgun, four locally made shotguns, three rounds of live ammunition, suspected cannabis sativa, suspected hard drugs, a militia camouflage T-shirt, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), a Guinea fowl adorned with fetish items, a POS device used for extortion, and various denominations of Biafra currency.

The Commissioner assured that a comprehensive investigation would be conducted, and the suspects would be brought to court. He emphasized the commitment of the Command to eradicate subversive and unrepentant criminal syndicates, ensuring the state’s freedom from violent crime. CP Aboki Danjuma also reassured the people of Imo State, including those in the diaspora returning for the yuletide celebration, of maximum safety and security during and after the festive season.

In closing, he urged the residents of Imo State to actively support the police and other security agencies by providing timely and actionable information to aid in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality in the state.
