The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, emphasized in his Christmas message that President Bola Tinubu must fulfill his promise of delivering “renewed hope” to Nigeria, as God and history will not forgive him if he fails to do so.
Kukah urged Tinubu to address pressing issues, including the instrumentalization of religious, ethnic, and regional identities, and to create a more just and egalitarian society.
He highlighted the need for tangible evidence of progress, especially in ending corruption and divisive narratives while restoring the sanctity of human life.
Furthermore, Kukah called for the removal of corrupt individuals from public service to pave the way for genuine public servants to make a meaningful impact.
