Luis Suarez has revealed his former Barcelona teammate Ronald Araujo was able to successfully stop Lionel Messi in training. Araujo signed for Barcelona in 2018 from River Plates and has cemented his spot in the team as a rock in defense of the Catalan giants.
Ronald Araujo played a key role for the blaugrana during the 2021/22 campaign, recording 43 games and notching four goals in the process.
And in a recent interview with ESPN Argentina, via Soccer Laduma, Suarez was full of praises for his Uruguay teammate and disclosed how the young central defender was able to “stop” Messi in training three years ago. “I am very proud that Araujo played at such a high level throughout the season with Barca,” Luis Suarez said.. “I always trusted him and I remember that at 20 years old [in 2019], he did not let Leo pass the ball in training. That boy is a wall,” the Uruguayan added.
