Lulu-Briggs withdraws her Supreme Court petition to contest the governorship election.

Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Accord’s Rivers State Governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, has abandoned his Supreme Court suit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In his 2024 New Year letter to Rivers people, Lulu-Briggs said the gesture was his contribution to easing tension in an overheated Rivers polity, and that it was a mark of his commitment to a peaceful Rivers State.

Lulu-Briggs remarked in a message signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Nia’bari Fakae, that 2023 will be a challenging year for many Rivers people, threatening their livelihoods and security.

He said the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State if not halted, would further worsen the lot of the people.

He commended Rivers people for standing resolute against undemocratic and unconstitutional tendencies.

Lulu-Briggs while wishing Rivers people a Happy New Year, said 2024 provides an opportunity to stop and ponder.

He called on the warring groups involved in the political crisis in the state to sheath their swords and imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love, and reconciliation
