Scott Asuquo, age 31, was given a three-year prison term for burglary and theft by an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Friday.
A four-count accusation that included elements of theft and burglary was brought against Asuquo on January 20.Asuquo was sentenced to three years in jail on each of the four offenses by Magistrate Mrs. O.A. Daodu after pleading guilty in a summary trial.Daodu, on the other hand, insisted that the sentences should be read in order.
Asuquo broke into Ugochi Ononiba’s apartment and stole her Tecno phone, worth N20,000, according to the prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Bassey, who earlier testified in court.According to Bassey, the inmate also took an Itel phone and a GTBank card for an automated teller machine from Ononiba.
He added that the convict, on the same day, broke into the apartment of one Simbiat Fasanmiro on Kazeem Street, Alapere, Lagos, and stole her Samsung phone worth N50,000.
He said that the convict also stole an Itel phone worth N20,000 from Fasanmiro, adding that he stole his N3,500 cash and telephone airtime recharge cards worth N1,600.
The prosecutor told the court that the convict also threatened to kill his victims if they shouted.
