Manchester United forward, Anthony Martial, on Wednesday night, equalled the club’s former player, David Beckham’s goals record at Old Trafford.
Martial’s second-half goal against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg 2-0 victory means the France international is now one of Manchester United’s top 25 all-time scorers, equalling Beckham’s tally of 85 goals for the Red Devils.
The 27-year-old was introduced just after the hour-mark against Nottingham Forest alongside Marcus Rashford and the returning Jadon Sancho, and just 10 minutes after joining the fray, he was on the scoresheet.
Midfielder Casemiro unleashed Martial in behind, and when Rashford’s shot was deflected into his path, he made no mistake in firing a left-footed strike into the bottom corner.
Martial’s goal made it 1-0 on the night at Old Trafford, in a match where chances were at a premium, and 4-0 on aggregate.
However, another goal from midfielder, Fred came shortly after, and 2-0 is how the match stayed, setting up a Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United on Sunday, 26 February.
